How to Make Copies of ID Photos: Prints From the File, Cost and the 6-Month Rule

The cleanest way to copy an ID photo is to lay its digital file out on 10×15 cm (101.6×152.4 mm) photo paper and print it again: one print gives four 50×60 mm biometric photos or eight 35×45 mm visa photos. Scanning or photocopying a printed photo loses sharpness, and Turkey's NVİ does not accept photocopied or computer-duplicated photos.

Key takeaways

  • The cleanest copy is a new print from the digital file: a 10×15 cm sheet holds four 50×60 mm or eight 35×45 mm photos; a vesikalik.com.tr order keeps the file in your account
  • Scanning or photocopying a printed photo loses sharpness; NVİ does not accept photocopied or computer-duplicated photos
  • The Ankara Chamber of Commerce 2026 tariff caps a 10×15 print at 76.50 TL plus VAT; Migros lists a 10×15 print at 16.95 TL
  • ID cards, passports and licences need a photo taken in the last six months; an old photo is replaced, not copied

Where is it used?

If you have one ID photo but need a few more copies, or want to duplicate the same frame without going back to the studio, this guide shows which route holds up: a new print from the digital file, the official price ceiling, where to print and when an old photo has to be replaced.

How it works

How to Make Copies of ID Photos: Prints From the File, Cost and the 6-Month Rule — get it right in 4 steps.

  1. Find the file or prepare a new frame

If you have the digital file, use it. If you do not, or the photo is older than six months, take a new frame, pick the document and run the free analysis.

  2. Download the 10×15 sheet

Download the sheet from the Multiple copies card on your order page: JPG for photo kiosks and phones, PDF for printers. The 13×18, 15×21 and A4 paper options are on the same card.

  3. Print it on photo paper

Print on photo paper at a photo studio, a stationery shop, the Jet Photo kiosk in Migros or at home. Keep the scale at 100%; do not use fit-to-page, cropping or filters.

  4. Measure, cut and keep the rest

Measure one frame with a ruler (50×60 mm = 5×6 cm), then cut right on the line with a craft knife and a ruler. Keep the spare frames flat in an envelope for applications within six months.

How Do You Make Copies of an ID Photo? Three Routes

Ways to copy an ID photo depending on what you have
What you haveRouteResultID card, passport, licence (Turkey)
Digital file (from us or a studio)Lay the file out on 10×15 paper and print on photo paperOriginal sharpness, real sizeUsable if the photo is within 6 months

Photo older than six monthsA new photo instead of a copyShows the face as it is todayA new frame is needed

The right way to copy an ID photo depends on what you have. If the digital file still exists, copying is really reprinting: the file is laid out on 10×15 cm photo paper at its real size, and one print gives four 50×60 mm biometric photos or eight 35×45 mm visa photos. That print is no different from the first one, because the ID photos studios hand out today are printed from digital files as well. If you got the file from us, the Multiple copies card on your order page gives you the sheet ready-made; every frame prepared with the online ID photo tool has the same card.

If a studio took your photo, ask for the digital file first. The 2026 tariff of the Ankara Chamber of Commerce lists “biometric + digital” packages as separate items, and its note says the business is not responsible for photos and digital files that are not collected within two months, so do not count on the studio keeping your file for years. If all you have is a printed photo, scanning or photocopying it is tempting, but the result is weak: the dot pattern of the print turns into a wavy texture when scanned, colours shift and edges soften.

In an official application this difference matters. Turkey's General Directorate of Population and Citizenship Affairs states in its passport FAQ that “photocopies, photos duplicated on a computer or non-biometric photos are not accepted” (NVİ passport FAQ, in Turkish), and its driving licence FAQ carries the same sentence. So for a Turkish ID card, passport or licence, bring a new print on photo paper, not a scanned or photocopied copy.

What If You Lose the File? Your Orders Stay in Your Account

The file itself is where copying most often breaks down: the studio's file goes missing, the phone is replaced, the email attachment is deleted. At vesikalik.com.tr the photo and print sheet of every paid order are kept on the order page in your account; as long as your account stays open, you can re-download them whenever and as often as you like. When you want to reprint the same photo for a new application within six months, you need neither a new shoot nor to buy the file again. If you want the files deleted, the request is carried out within 30 days; the rule is set out in the Privacy Policy.

The order page holds two files for each person. The single photo is the one you upload to e-Devlet or an application portal and print on its own; it downloads as JPG, PNG or PDF with its physical size written into the file. The multiple-copies sheet lays the same photo out on photo paper with cut lines: a 10×15 sheet gives four 50×60 mm or eight 35×45 mm photos. With a digital order you can download the sheet as 13×18, 15×21 or A4; with cut lines, edge marks only or no lines; as a JPG for a photo kiosk or a PDF for a printer.

The file is yours with a print order too: we print the sheets on professional photo paper, cut them and ship them, while the single photo and the 10×15 sheet stay downloadable in your account. If you ordered as a guest, an account is opened for your email address at payment; you get in through the sign-in link in the order emails or by resetting the password. If the photo is older than six months, upload a new one instead of copying: the analysis before payment is free and shows point by point whether the frame fits the document.

How Much Do ID Photo Copies Cost in Turkey? The 2026 Official Tariff

Ankara Chamber of Commerce 2026 Maximum Price Tariff for Photographers — items relevant to copies (approved 30.06.2026/47; VAT excluded, maximum price)
ItemQuantityMaximum price (VAT excluded)
Amateur print 10×15176.50 TL
Biometric or ID photo, digital only, no print1612.00 TL
Biometric or ID photo4714.00 TL
Biometric + digital or ID photo + digital4884.00 TL
Biometric or ID photo8918.00 TL

The cost of copies depends on the route. If you have the file, you only pay for the print, and at a photo studio that is the “amateur print” item: the 2026 tariff of the Ankara Chamber of Commerce sets a maximum of 76.50 TL plus VAT for one 10×15 print. For a new shoot the same tariff sets 714 TL for four biometric or ID photos and 884 TL with the digital file. The tariff is a ceiling, binds only businesses registered with that chamber, and notes separately that rush jobs may cost 50% more.

At a photo kiosk the price is the machine's own item: on the Migros website, “Fotoğraf Baskı 10X15” was listed at 16.95 TL on 7 October 2026, and in the store the amount scanned at the checkout applies. There is no official price list for stationery and copy shops, so we do not give a figure for them, and the tariffs of other cities' chambers are not quoted unless we can check them in the chamber's own publication. Our own prices appear, up to date, in the price section of this page: the digital file is a single item, and you can download the sheet again from your orders page at any time. For per-quantity price questions see the ID photo prices guide.

How Many Copies Does One Print Give? Count by Paper Size

ID photos per print by photo size and paper (layout calculation of the sheet file on this site)
Photo size10×15 cm13×18 cm15×21 cmA4
50×60 mm (5×6 cm)46920

50×50 mm661224
51×51 mm (2×2 in)661220
33×48 mm9101836
60×90 mm (6×9 cm)24410

The paper decides how many copies you get. The paper called “10×15” in photo printing is 4×6 inches (101.6×152.4 mm); the photos are laid out on it at their real size, edge to edge, and you cut along the shared edges. The numbers in the table are the layout calculation of the sheet file on this site. On 10×15, the 50×60 and 35×45 layouts are exact; on 13×18 and A4 some layouts are scaled down proportionally by no more than 1.5% to fit the paper, so the 50×60 frames on A4, for example, print at about 49.5×59.4 mm.

Which paper to choose depends on where you print. Photo kiosks and studios mostly print 10×15; for a kiosk, save the sheet's JPG to your phone, and the steps are in the guide to printing ID photos at Migros. With a photo printer at home, the A4 sheet gives twenty 50×60 photos in one print; the PDF's page size is the paper itself, so choose “100% actual size” when printing. Check how many you need in the guide to how many ID photos each document needs: for a Turkish residence permit, a first application asks for two and a renewal for four.

If you have the file, where you copy is a choice; what matters is photo paper and real-size scale. At a photo studio the price has an official ceiling and the print goes on photo paper. At stationery and copy shops, first ask whether they print on photo paper: a printout on plain paper looks washed out and wears quickly, and it is not a copy to hand in as a photo for an official application.

A photo kiosk is quick and cheap, but it takes files from your phone's gallery or a USB stick, so you need the sheet's JPG; a PDF does not show up in the gallery. If you print at home, pick the printer's photo paper setting, turn colour enhancement off and print a single frame on a test sheet first. If you do not want to deal with any of this, you can also have the sheet printed, cut and shipped within Turkey; pick 50×60 mm for a passport or driving licence and 35×45 mm for a Schengen visa in the wizard.

The limit of copying is the age of the photo. NVİ asks for a biometric photo taken within the last six months for ID cards, passports and driving licences (NVİ driving licence FAQ, in Turkish), and Turkey's marriage regulation also requires the photo to be taken within the last six months so that it shows the person as they are now. However sharply you copy a photo taken two years ago, it does not replace a new one in these applications. The details are in the guide to how long ID photos stay valid.

If six months have not passed, the spare frames from the same sheet can be used in later applications. NVİ scans the photo into its system during the application and hands it back, so the four frames on one 10×15 sheet cover an ID card, a passport and a licence application at once. If the photo is old, preparing a new one is quicker and cheaper than copying: a frame taken with a phone in daylight in front of a plain wall is enough, and how to take it is explained in the guide to taking an ID photo with a phone.

The most common mistakes in a new frame are the ones in the frames below: glare on glasses, a smile, a shot from below, a tilted head, a coloured or cluttered background and hard side light. The free analysis flags them item by item before you print. Unlike copying an old photo, the result shows your face as it is today and you know from the start whether it meets the rules.

Do's and Don'ts

Do

5
  • Make copies from the original digital file, not from a printed photo
  • If a studio took the photo, ask for the digital file as well
  • Use photo paper and print at 100% scale
  • Keep the spare frames dry and flat in an envelope
  • Check the date the photo was taken before applying: last six months

Don't

5
  • Do not photocopy a printed ID photo
  • Do not scan an old photo and reprint it for an ID card or passport application
  • Do not print on plain A4 paper
  • Do not print a compressed file downloaded back from social media or WhatsApp
  • Do not use a photo older than six months in a new application

FAQ

Can I re-download my digital file later?
Yes. The clean file you purchased is tied to your account and can be re-downloaded from your orders page at any time — even if you change phones or delete the file, it is not lost. The same applies to guest orders: use the login link sent to the email you gave at checkout to access your account and file.
How long does an ID photo stay usable and when should I retake it?
A photo has no validity measured in years; applications set a "recency" rule instead, and the most common one is that it must have been taken within the last 6 months (the US visa and Schengen state this explicitly). You may reuse the same file for different applications inside that window. What forces a retake is appearance rather than time: noticeable weight change, a big difference in hair, beard or eyewear, medical or cosmetic procedures, and fast-growing children. An authority may also demand a shorter window in its own notice; recency rules per document are in the photo validity guide.
Can an old ID photo be converted into a biometric photo?
It depends on the source frame. If the photo already meets the pose rules (frontal gaze, neutral expression, even light), everything fixable is digital: whitening the background, cropping to size, adjusting DPI and file size — that is exactly what our tool does, applying the background and cropping steps automatically. But a smile, a turned head, harsh shadows or closed eyes cannot be repaired afterwards — those flaws belong to the moment of capture, and a Photoshop "biometrification" attempt gets rejected at application. Remember the photo must also have been taken within the last 6 months. If unsure, just upload the frame: the free analysis tells you in seconds whether it qualifies.
How many ID photos fit on one 10×15 print?
The 10×15 paper is really 4×6 inches (101.6×152.4 mm). Laid out at real size with no gaps, it holds four 50×60 mm biometric photos, four 45×60 mm photos, eight 35×45 mm visa photos or six 50×50 or 51×51 mm square photos. For more copies, a 15×21 (6×8 in) sheet holds nine 50×60 photos and an A4 sheet twenty. The multiple-copies file on the order page comes in this layout, with cut lines.
Should I take a JPG or a PDF to a photo kiosk?
A JPG. Photo kiosks read the file as an image from your phone's gallery (QR code or cable) or from a USB stick; a PDF does not show up in the gallery and may not print at the kiosk. On the order page, tap JPG in the “Other formats” line of the multiple-copies card, save it to your phone, choose the standard 10×15 print on the machine and keep cropping and filters off. The PDF is for printing at 100% on a home or studio printer: its page size is the paper itself, so it cannot be scaled wrongly.
How do I make copies of an ID photo?
The cleanest way is to lay the photo's digital file out at real size on 10×15 cm photo paper and print it again: one print gives four 50×60 mm biometric photos or eight 35×45 mm visa photos. If you do not have the file, ask the studio that took the photo. Scanning or photocopying a printed photo loses sharpness, and Turkey's NVİ does not accept photocopies or photos duplicated on a computer. If you bought a digital file from us, the multiple-copies card on your order page gives this sheet as a JPG or PDF. The steps are in the guide to copying ID photos.
How much does it cost to copy ID photos?
The cost depends on how you copy. If you have the digital file, you pay only for the print: the Ankara Chamber of Commerce's 2026 photographers' tariff caps a single 10×15 print at 76.50 TL excluding VAT, and that print holds four 50×60 mm photos. Migros listed its “10X15 photo print” at 16.95 TL on its website on 7 October 2026. Without a file, the cleanest route is a new shoot; the same tariff caps four biometric or standard ID photos at 714 TL, or 884 TL with the digital file (excluding VAT). The tariff is a ceiling that binds only businesses registered with the chamber. Details are in the guide to copying ID photos.
