Your photo goes through a multi-stage pipeline running entirely on our own GPU servers — it is never sent to any third-party service:

    Image preprocessing & quality metrics

    EXIF orientation is corrected automatically; resolution is validated and sharpness is measured numerically using the Laplacian variance method. Blurry or low-resolution shots are reported with the reason at this early stage.

    478-point face mapping

    The Google MediaPipe FaceLandmarker model maps your face with 478 three-dimensional points. Whether the frame contains exactly one face, its position, and its ratio to the frame are all computed from this map.

    Pose & expression checks

    Head rotation (yaw), forward/backward tilt (pitch), and sideways lean (roll) are measured to the degree from the 3D transformation matrix; 52 facial expression coefficients (blendshapes) are used to check eye openness, mouth closure, smiling, and gaze direction individually.

    Background analysis & cleanup

    The BiRefNet segmentation model, accelerated with CUDA on ONNX Runtime, performs precise edge detection down to individual hairs. The uniformity of the existing background is verified via color deviation and edge-density metrics; the backdrop is then replaced with a document-compliant solid color (white, light grey, blue, etc.).

    ICAO 9303 compliance report

    Every criterion — resolution, sharpness, head ratio, pose, expression, and background — is reported individually as pass / warning / fail, with the reason for any failure stated clearly. For compliant shots, crop geometry matching the document format (e.g. 55% head-height ratio for Turkish biometric) is suggested automatically.

    Print-ready output

    The photo is produced at 300 DPI print resolution for the selected document size (50×60 mm Turkish biometric, 35×45 mm Schengen/ICAO, 51×51 mm US, and more than 15 formats). For print orders, photos are automatically arranged on a 10×15 cm sheet with cut lines — a single sheet yields 8 photos in the 35×45 mm format, for example.
